MICHELLE PITTS

Michelle Headshot_edited.jpg

Michelle Pitts has been working in the field of education as a teacher and school leader for 25 years. After receiving an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Colby College, she earned her graduate degree from Lesley University in Elementary Education. Currently, Michelle is working towards a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Southern New Hampshire University. Her research focus is the leader's influence on happiness within work culture. Her journey began as a first and second grade teacher, reaching the pinnacle of her teaching career when she became a finalist for Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 2007. She has been a school principal for 15 years in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, collaborating with teachers and school leaders across all grade spans. Throughout her career, Michelle has focused much of her work on culture building and meeting the individual needs of both students and staff. She has presented for school leaders in Massachusetts, written an article on Social Emotional Learning for the Massachusetts Department of Education, and worked with psychology students in the graduate program at Tufts University to model data meetings around identification and supports for students with social and emotional challenges. Michelle has served as an adjunct professor for both Endicott College and Lesley University. In addition, she has been trained through Harvard University on the Data-Wise improvement process and facilitated this process with college professors to analyze the engagement within their written syllabi. Her passion for creating and fostering an accepting and positive learning environment that benefits all community stakeholders has been at the center of her work as an educator, leader and consultant.
